(TOLLIVER):
"'AMENDMENT THREE' IS THE BEST OPPORTUNITY FOR MISSOURI-CHILDREN TO RECEIVE AN EARLY-CHILDHOOD EDUCATION.
FOR TOO LONG, THE POLITICIANS AND SPECIAL-INTERESTS IN JEFFERSON CITY HAVE FAILED OUR
KIDS--WHICH HAS HURT OUR SCHOOLS, AND HAMPERED OUR ECONOMY. THAT'S WHY, AS A MOTHER, I FELT IT WAS IMPORTANT THIS WEEKEND TO PARTICIPATE IN A PROTEST AGAINST ONE OF THE COMPANIES TRYING TO DEFEAT
'AMENDMENT THREE': 'DIRT CHEAP'; IT'S A MAJOR SUPPLIER OF LIQUOR AND CIGARETTES IN MISSOURI.
'AMENDMENT THREE' WILL PROVIDE 300-MILLION DOLLARS, EVERY YEAR, IN GUARANTEED FUNDING FOR EARLY-CHILDHOOD EDUCATION- AND HEALTH-PROGRAMS.
BUT, COMPANIES LIKE 'DIRT CHEAP' ARE PUTTING THEIR PROFIT-MARGINS AHEAD OF OUR KIDS.
WE'RE CALLING ON 'DIRT CHEAP' TO DROP ITS OPPOSITION TO 'AMENDMENT THREE'--AND TO FINALLY PUT THE EDUCATION OF MISSOURI-CHILDREN FIRST.
I WANT ALL MISSOURI-PARENTS AND -EDUCATORS TO TELL THE POLITICIANS AND
SPECIAL-INTERESTS--LIKE 'DIRT CHEAP'--THAT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. THAT'S WHY
I'LL BEING VOTING 'YES' ON 'AMENDMENT THREE', THIS NOVEMBER--SO THAT, FOR THE FIRST TIME, MISSOURI CAN TRULY INVEST IN EARLY-CHILDHOOD EDUCATION."
(Paid for by Vote Yes on 3 for Kids; Marc
Ellinger, treasurer. The protest took place on Saturday, September 10th, at the Dirt Cheap store in Hazelwood.)
