(OPEN):
A STATEWIDE ILLINOIS-POLL, CONDUCTED LAST MONTH [JANUARY], FOUND THAT NEARLY TWO-THIRDS OF RESIDENTS SUPPORT INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF THE
"DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE". THIS COMES AS THE "ILLINOIS COMMERCE
COMMISSION" CONSIDERS A PROPOSAL TO CONSTRUCT A NEW PUMP-STATION THAT WOULD ALLOW FOR THE INCREASED THROUGHPUT.
CRAIG STEVENS IS A SPOKESMAN FOR "GROW AMERICA'S INFRASTRUCTURE
NOW"--WHICH SPONSORED THE SURVEY...
(STEVENS):
"THE 'DAKOTA ACCESS
PIPELINE' OPTIMIZATION-PROJECT WOULD DOUBLE THE PIPELINE'S CAPACITY--TO MORE THAN A
MILLION BARRELS, PER DAY--WHILE REQUIRING NO NEW PIPELINE-CONSTRUCTION.
THIS WOULD BOLSTER NATIONAL SECURITY, REDUCE AMERICA'S RELIANCE ON IMPORTS, AND TAKE RISK OFF THE
ROAD--BY PROMOTING THE SAFE DELIVERY OF ENERGY-RESOURCES. THE POLL ALSO FOUND THAT ABOUT 85-PERCENT OF ILLINOIS-RESIDENTS RECOGNIZE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE
PIPELINE'S ROLE IN CONTRIBUTING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS, IN STATE- AND LOCAL-TAXES.
PLUS, 84-PERCENT BELIEVE [THAT] 'DAKOTA ACCESS' IS PROVIDING A SAFER MEANS-OF-TRANSPORTATION FOR OUR
ENERGY-RESOURCES--ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPARED TO TRUCK OR RAIL."
(CLOSE):
THE COMMISSION IS SCHEDULED TO HOLD A HEARING ON THE PROPOSAL NEXT MONTH
[MARCH]. FOR MORE INFORMATION, VISIT "GAIN-NOW"-DOT-ORG.
