Elations® glucosamine and chondroitin liquid and powder supplement has launched the "Boomers Building a Better America" initiative--which is designed to reward the growing population of Baby Boomers who are an active part of the volunteer force in the United States.  Famed Olympic champions Bart Conner and Nadia Comaneci (who are also husband and wife) are helping to kick off this program, by choosing the top projects pitched by deserving Boomers--who will receive up to $10,000 in cash grants along with expert advice, resources, and tools to help them get the job done.

Conner says, "We're so proud to be part of the 'Boomers Building a Better America' initiative.  It's incredibly important for us to be able to give back to our communities and do what we can to make a positive and lasting impact in our neighborhoods."

Comaneci adds, "Baby Boomers are the largest, healthiest, best-educated generation in history--and we believe that Boomers have a responsibility to live up to their reputation and show the younger generations just how truly vital helping others is."

Spurred in part by the tight job market and rough economy, Baby Boomers with altruistic goals are donating an increasing amount of time to volunteering.  In fact, Boomers are leading the way in the volunteer movement:  According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, out of the 77 million Baby Boomers in the U.S., 32.2 percent volunteer--the highest of any age group.

Elations Director of Marketing Michael Burton says, "We launched this campaign to help fuel this growing population of active volunteers, to motivate more people to get involved, and to recognize both their efforts and the positive impact that they're having on communities around the country.  Not only are we providing the grants to help Baby Boomers realize some of their philanthropic goals, our product also helps them live active, more healthy lives, by offering better joint comfort--which is greatly needed by Boomers."

"Boomers Building a Better America" will make the dreams of a better, healthier world a reality, by awarding three grants to the most deserving community leaders and volunteers.  Boomers can both learn more about this program and apply for the grants by logging on to www.facebook.com/elations.

Projects will be chosen by an independent panel of judges, who will review each proposal and award an appropriate amount of money and resources to complete the project.  People across the nation can participate by uploading photos and videos, and by commenting on others' efforts.  Three winners will be announced on Friday, July 30th, 2010--and will have until Friday, October 29th, 2010, to complete their projects, with the help of Elations.

Since its launch in October 2007, Baby Boomers and others who seek to maintain healthy joints have become loyal to the Elations brand.  Elations is the most widely distributed glucosamine and chondroitin brand in the U.S.--and is available at grocery stores, drug stores, club merchandisers, and mass merchandisers across the country.
