(OPEN):
WITH LESS THAN ONE MONTH TO GO IN THIS YEAR'S CENSUS, BETH VELASQUEZ--OF "A-A-R-P NEW MEXICO"--REMINDS ALL RESIDENTS THAT PARTICIPATING IS VERY IMPORTANT...

(VELASQUEZ):
"
THE CENSUS WILL INFLUENCE COMMUNITY-FUNDING AND CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATION FOR THE NEXT DECADE.  AND, SINCE NEW MEXICO'S TRADITIONALLY ONE OF THE MOST-UNDERCOUNTED STATES, IT'S CRITICAL FOR EVERYONE TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE INCLUDED.  OVERALL, THE INFORMATION WILL BE USED TO HELP ALLOCATE MORE THAN SEVEN-BILLION DOLLARS IN FEDERAL FUNDS, EACH YEAR--FOR OUR OWN STATE, AND OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES.  THIS FUNDING GOES TO ALL KINDS OF PROGRAMS--INCLUDING SCHOOL-LUNCHES, BUSINESS-LOANS, ROAD-CONSTRUCTION, AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION--AMONG MANY OTHERS.  THE INFORMATION ALSO DETERMINES WHERE HOSPITALS AND SCHOOLS ARE BUILT--AND HOW OUR CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICTS ARE FORMED."

(CLOSE):
VELASQUEZ ADDS THAT ALL NEW MEXICANS WHO HAVEN'T YET COMPLETED THE CENSUS SHOULD DO SO NOW--BY VISITING "MY-2020-CENSUS"-DOT-GOV.
