42-MILLION AMERICANS ARE CARING FOR A PARENT OR OTHER
LOVED-ONE. AND, AS PART OF "NATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS MONTH",
IN NOVEMBER, "A-A-R-P" HAS RELEASED A POLL FINDING THAT
OVER A QUARTER OF THOSE WHO ARE CARING FOR A LOVED-ONE SAY THAT THEIR
LIFE HAS CHANGED SINCE BECOMING A CAREGIVER--WITH ROUGHLY ONE-IN-FIVE
SAYING THAT SOME ASPECT OF THEIR LIFE HAS "GOTTEN WORSE".
MICHAEL FESTA [AS IN "FESTIVE" AND "FRESCA"] IS WITH
"A-A-R-P MASSACHUSETTS"...
(FESTA):
"AT SOME POINT
IN 2009, MORE THAN ONE-MILLION 'BAY STATE'-RESIDENTS FOUND
THEMSELVES SERVING AS CAREGIVERS. FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND NEIGHBORS
WHO SUPPORT A LOVED-ONE RARELY SEE THEMSELVES AS A CAREGIVER. AND,
THEY ALMOST NEVER ASK FOR HELP. BUT, AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES,
MOST PEOPLE WILL BE A CAREGIVER--OR WILL NEED SUPPORT. WE WANT TO
REMIND CAREGIVERS THAT THEY AREN'T ALONE--AND THAT THERE IS HELP:
WE'VE ADDED NEW RESOURCES TO OUR ONLINE 'CAREGIVING RESOURCE CENTER'.
AND, THROUGH OUR NEW 'THANKS PROJECT', WE URGE ALL AMERICANS TO
TAKE A MOMENT TO THANK OUR NATION'S CAREGIVERS."
